Design:
The center island in a dental clinic is an economic and efficient unit dividing the space between two operators units and providing the shared use of x-ray unit, sink, and gloves, masks, paper, soap, and sanitizer dispensers and at the same time provide privacy and radiation protection for the two operators.
Design Features:
To minimize radiation exposure all doors on both side of the unit and other components are lead shielded with 1/32-inch lead that is incorporated into the panels and finished white laminated from both sides
To accommodate the weight of the x-ray unit and the cantilevered arm the unit was mounted on 1 1⁄2 inch structural plywood and the whole center unit are mounted on a special base with concrete driven screws for extra stability
Materials:
Antimicrobial panels were used throughout the center cabinets with an additional layer of lead incorporated into the doors and other components as required
To accommodate the weight of the lead shielded doors four soft closing European hinges were provided for each door
Under mounted stainless steel sink with a stone top was provided.
The door for the extra high top cabinet was provided with special free lift folding door.
